Everything seems to be MADE IN CHINA, but what do we know about Chinese beauty secrets?
Like all other nationalities, the ideal chinese beauty has changed throughout the ages. The Chinese woman now has freedom to express herself; therefore, there is no standard to what a chinese woman should look like. To me, Chinese women seem to have an effortless, minimalist view of beauty. Their beauty comes from flawless skin and gorgeous shiny hair (Think Lucy Liu). Let's admit it not all of us are blessed with porcelean skin or naturally shiny hair, but there is always a product that can help:
For Flawless Skin:
Water (Free)- You can not have enough of this elixer of life. Infact, I will ask that all followers of this blog consume atleast 12 cups of water a day. Trust me, you do not want to be stuck in the hospital on a Sunday because you are dehydrated and have developed a kidney stone (The pain is like being stabbed again, again, and again).
St. Ives Aprioct Scrub ($3-$5)
Great skin starts with a great product. I use St. Ives about 4 times a week and whenever I think I need a scrub. The apricot granules are gentle enough to not hurt and rough enough to scrub away dull dead skin cells.
For Porcelean Skin:
Maybelline Pure Makeup Foundation ($4- $6)
When I first bought this foundation I did not like it, but now that I know the importance of hydrated skin this product is great. It workks best on well hydrated skin (Don't slack on the moisturizer or the water). This foundation also happens to be one of the most affordable. It is made of 50% water (YESSS WATTERRR), which does not clog pores. I apply this with a sponge on the areas I need it. It offers light coverage, but it is buildable. It is a matte finish.
For Shiny Hair:
Biosilk Silk Therapy (Varied prices $12-$30)
I love this stuff. The smell is enticing and it is multi-purpose. These silk drops can be applied to damp hair as a shine treatment, to dry hair as shine serum, and to hair as heat protectant before using heat. I religiouly use this everyday. A little goes a long way, so my 20 ounce bottle still has 6 months of use in it (Ibought the bottle in December and I still haven't gotten half done with it).
For long lashes:
Avon Uplift Mascara ($6-$8)
This is one of my HG (Holy Grail) Mascaras. The fibers offer length and even application. I love how this mascara can enhance a natural look, but can also be layered to intensify a sexy look.

This is probably not a suprise to Michelle, but today I spent a little bit of money on some beauty products that I felt I needed (In my mind I need all beauty products lol).
Maybelline Mineral Power Bronzer in Sunset Bronze ($9)
I have wanted this since I saw the ad in LATINA Magazine August 2009. It features one of my favorite novela actresses Dana Garcia. As I do with all things, I decided I had to have this bronzer because I wanted a glow like hers. I havent tested it yet, but I will tommorow and for the next week on my trip to Florida (ROAD TRIPPP!!!!!).
Tea Tree Oil Stick ($2)
I needed some tea tree oil on the go. If this stuff really works then I must have it on me at every moment of my life.
Tea Tree Oil ($9)
I remember reading a review on the properties of 100% tea tree oil. Supposedly, this australian oil can clear acne, clear dark spot, cure dandruff, clear athletes's foot, etc. It's a do it all oil, and I can not wait to use it (I have this nasty cystic zit on my cheek...EWWWWW).
Nikka Lip stick in Ruby Red ($1)

After falling in love with Revlon's Cherries in the Snow lipstick, but not the price tag, I decided I needed a truw red liostick. Thanks to the millions of Dollar stores and Beauty Supply stores in my neighborhood, it is very easy to get my hands on cheap but good cosmetics. This lipstick is really pigmented and the red suits all skin colors.
Nikka jumbo eye pencils in Glow and Ash ($1 each)
I have plenty of eyeliners but not enough jumbo pencils. I immediatly gravitated to this two colors since makeup looks poped into my head. Glow is a shimmery nude/white oencil. It is great for lining the water line and the inner corner to make eyes pop. It can also be used as a highlighter for the face or shimmery eyeshadow. The ash is a metalic grey that is great for s light smokey eye.
Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque ($5)
I have been wanting this for a while. I love how mint smells and was looking for a mask that could add the tingly feeling experience to my face routine. This mask claims to dry up pimples, clear blackheads, and shrink pores. If it doesn't deliver all of that, atleast you will be refreshed after a walk around the humid, hot city.
TopiClear lemon cream lightening cream with sun screen ($2)
My uncle used to use this in his youth to clear up the dark spots that acne left behind. His skin is comletley spotless to this day. After I saw my aunt hand him atube of this to him today, I asked him if it worked. He just showed me a picture to show how effective this can be. In fact the only reason why I went shopping today was because I was going to buy this product. I hope it works.
UPDATE: I know I have been gone for more than a week now, but I was very sick and I didn't have access to a computer because my computer is dying and I do not want to kill it by blogging. Many things come out of Brazil—Samba, Capoeira, Brazil nut, Brazilian wax, the Bikini (ouch), Super Models… Yes, Super Models. It seems to be that beauty with world wide appeal is a constant export of the Brazilian trade. Names like Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen, Alessandra Ambrioso, Emmanuelle DePaula, Isabeli Fontana, Raica Oliveira, Ana Beatriz Barros, Ana Claudia Michels, and Fernanda Tavarez, to name a few, are sought after in the fashion world to be the faces of international products. For Smooth, Shiny, Brazilian-like Skin
Vaseline Intensive Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil with Brazil Nut ($6-$8):
I have been using this product on and off for 6 months. It is sooo moisturizing! When applied to the skin, the skin gives off a nice glow without looking oily. The smell is very nutty and natural. I love it! It is best to apply onto damp skin right after showering or bathing. This product can be found in stores like CVS, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, etc…
OR
Johnson and Johnson Baby Oil with Lavender ($3- $5): The age old classic. This product is a daily go to for me. I reach for it more than I reach for the Vaseline oil. The Lavender smell is relaxing unlike the sometimes, too poignant original baby powder smell. I apply it right after the shower unto damp skin. The application is smoother and quicker than the Vaseline Intensive Care, which is a gel. The after effect is just as smooth and glowy as the gel. You can find this pretty much anywhere.
For Amazing, Nourished Brazilian-like Hair:
Brazilian Keratin Treatment ($150- $600): The Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment naturally straightens your hair. It produces spectacular results - the hair is shiny, sleek and healthy. For the time being, no big U.S. hair or beauty company is selling it. Only small firms are importing products from Brazil or creating their own formulations. The brands include Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Brazilian Hair Straightening and Brazilian Blowout. The Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment is ideal for those with tumbleweed hair. It is great for people who can’t do a salon blowout at home or get blowout every week. It eliminates frizz and unwanted curl while giving hair added texture and control. The treatment can be used on the majority of hair types, even chemically treated hair, color treated hair, relaxed hair and on highlighted hair, without causing damage. The treatment takes 1 ½ to 4 hours; the more damaged your hair is the longer the treatment lasts. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, it can cost between $150 and $600. OR
Olive Oil ($1- $3)- Yes, plain oil olive oil will do the trick. It is not as drastic as the keratin, but the shine it gives is irresistible. I use olive oil as a deep hot oil treatment. I heat up a small amount of oil in a cup in the microwave. I apply it to damp unwashed hair. I leave it on for 30 minutes, then I rinse and shampoo. The results are incredible: Soft, shiny manageable hair.
For a Flawless, Bronzed Face:
Bronzer ($1- $28): Bronzer should be a staple in every make up kit. It provides a natural glow if applied correctly. I use different types of bronzers (Matte, Shimmer, Liquid, Powder) depending on the weather, the day, and the look. I usually apply with a fan brush, and I focus on the contours of my cheeks, the temples, and a little on the nose. Method of application varies per person, so just practice and see what works best for you.
For Sultry, Sexy Eyes:
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye pencil in Baked ($16)- Sultry eyes does not necessarily mean black eye liner. A bronze/gold liner, like Urban Decay’s, can add the perfect emphasis to the eyes without looking harsh. I apply the eyeliner to the water line and the inner eye corner, and then I add black mascara to the top and bottom lashes. It is very natural-looking, but sexy. You don’t necessarily have to go out and buy the urban decay liner (even though it’s smooth and creamy). Any gold/bronze eye pencil or eye kohl can be used. Even gold eye shadow can do the trick. Just line the bottom lash line with eye shadow and dab into the inner corner of the eye.
(Aside from the Brazilian Keratin, I have used all of the products I have mentioned.)

I decided to make a post about cellulite because it's something a lot of people know very little about and/or are confused about. So I hope you guys get to learn a lot through this post :-)
THE FACTS
- What is it? Cellulite is lumpy bits of fat that is closer to the skin and pushes against the connective tissue located under the skin called Septae. <-- Click to see
- What does it look like? It looks like various dimples on your skin. Many people compare it to the appearance of cottage cheese.
- Who gets it? Anybody can get it. Men or Women. It affects mostly women or girls after puberty. About 90 percent of women have it. There are many factors that can determine if you are prone to get cellulite such as age, thickness of your skin, how much body fat you have or if many people in your family have it (genes).
- Isn't Cellulite caused by being overweight? FALSE, Cellulite affects the skinny girls more that the overweight girls simply because it's not being fat that causes the lumps of cellulite but the fat deposits that are really close to your skin.
- Where on the body do people get it? stomach, butt, and mostly thighs.
So if you guys have noticed you do have cellulite read along for ways to reduce the appearance of it or get rid of the majority of it...
How do I reduce the appearance of Cellulite on my body?
- Cellulite shows more on light skin so if you'd like for it to show less try spray on tanning or a self tanning lotion.
- Attention Girls: wearing panties causes cellulite (crazy right? but yep!) The elastic around the thighs and below the stomach that the panties have cause for more fat build up near the skin & more dimples. Yeah I know you do not want to go commando but I would suggest not wearing panties to sleep OR wearing more thongs & booty shorts which do not have the tight elastic.
- Drink lots and lots of water!
- Aerobic exercise & strength training are the "killers" of cellulite BIG TIME! You might want to try those.
- Watch what you eat, try to reduce the amount of calories you intake daily to reduce the amount of fat close to your skin that causes those lumpy dimples.
Hope you guys gained some cellulite knowledge. For those of you who do have it I hope you guys learned ways to reduce it or get rid of it. Do not be embarrassed about it, almost everybody has it. It is very rare for people not to have it. Maybe it shows less but it's most likely there lol (pinch your skin and see those dimples show). Until next time! :-)
I cut my hair the other day because I felt like it was falling out too much. I used to have a lot of hair and all of a sudden I had very little. So yeah, I cut it very short and my plans are to take good care of it this time so that it could grow nice and healthy. I figured the first thing I should give up is gel. So thats exactly what I have been doing... I haven't touched one bit of gel in a while. I have wavy/curly hair and gel was like the only solution to my frizz issues until now. The other day my sister brought home an awesome product. It's called "Strictly curls" by Marc Anthony (No, not the singer LOL). It is also labeled "Curl Envy" and it says it is "Perfect Curl Cream." This Product is AWESOME! It works sort of like how gel works except you do not get that hardening effect. My hair felt very conditioned and the waves looked nice and healthy. The only slight problem is that after about 5 hours your hair will start getting a tiny bit frizzy since it starts wearing off but what i do is wet my hands and slide it through my hair to reactivate the cream and that works perfectly for me (as if I had just done it all over). The cream comes in a cute yellow tube. You can see Marc Anthony, the hair professional's picture in the back looking all cool LOL But yea I really do like this product. Other products will just condition the hair but will not control the frizz and the conditioning usually dries the scalp after a while (that's what causes dandruff!) So therefore I love this cream :-) It is my tube of happiness which I must mention does not hurt the pocket since it is only $7.99. (Oops I forgot to mention how I use this product. Well I simply just make my hair damp, split it into four pieces and I apply a few drops of the cream to each piece separately making sure I get the scalp and ends well. Behind this tube it says to twist the ends to enhance the curling effect... I gotta try that) Hope this small little review helps you guys out with making a decision on what to put on your hair when you're curling it... Let me know what results you guys get!! Ok bye bye
