I have been so MIA it's not even cute. I am so sorry. Michelle will be very disappointed in me.... Sorry... I have been so busy with school. Its such a quick pace compared to my 4 months of lounging at home, but I am trying to prioritize... work, school, social life, and not going insane are hard things to do. Enough with excuses... Everyone thinks that my hair is fake. I have had men and women alike stop me in the street or wherever to ask me if all of my hair was actually mine. My reaction is usually something like this...



Person: Is that yours?

Me: Oh, you mean this (point at my hair)

Person: Yes, is that yours ?

Me: (Holding my hair and with squinted eyes) Yes, its mine. Why? Does it look fake?

Person: Oh, no, no, It looks nice (They walk away)

ME (to myself) You should have seen me when I was a child.

Yes, people actually have the audocity to ask me whether the hair I have had forever is mine. I ask whether its the shine, the texture, the amount... I really do not know, since when I ask my little sister and my mother (who call it the wig) if they can provide adjectives, all they say is "fake" barbie-like", which for an English major aren't exactly the most descriptive adjectives.

They say it looks fake when its straight, but really fake when its curled. I think I should just shave my hair off, but maybe they will start asking "Are you crazy?"



I can't wait until I do the Brazilian Keratin Treatment (I mentioned it in the Global Beauty: Brazilian Bombshell).
My mom ordered some in the salon so it can be applied to my hair.. I can't wait!!!!!!.

This is embarassing (WHYYYYYY).... Well that is me, of course, and in this "lovley" picture I am in mi casa (my house) posing for my little sister, who was taking photography classes (She was 11, don't be harsh lol). I am in a dress my sister designed for her prom and I modeled it in my school fashion show. It was a very cold, sunny, Janurary Saturday, two years ago; yet, the windows were open all the way. I look like a squinting monster (Doesn't get as untampered as that) (The light pastel shadow makes my eyes look tiny). I absolutley love that dress and it is not even mine, and I love the portrait that hangs behind it since mom knows how much I love orchids (It hangs in our living room). Not such a great story, but I was tagged lol.

No. 7 Stay Perfect Liquid Eyeliner in Gilt

Boots was right on point when they named this liquid eyeliner Gilt...It's like liquid gold! I purchased this for $9 in a Target haul I am yet to post ( I shall, I shall, I promise), and boooyyyy am I happy to have done so. The packaging only serves as a way to restrain the power and transfixing characteristics of this beautiful liner. When I first opened it, I could already see that a little would go a long way since the constincency is very liquidy almost like new nail polish. I first applied it as a liner, but when I was applying it to the other eye I accidently smudged it, so I decided to spread it using my finger over my eye like eyeshadow. The results were breathtaking (The picture above)! The application was smooth, even, and intense. The staying power is excellent and there was no creasing for me without primer (I have very oily lids). I am in love. If you guys ever run across this, give it a shot it won't dissapoint.

Natural Makeup Look

When I go back to school in a couple of weeks, I doubt I will have the same amount of time at my vanity that I do now (That's about 2 hrs lol. I think its fun). I did this look the other day in about 10 minutes. It is very natural as the picture shows, but it still enhances my eyes. Hope you guys like it:

Face:

1.) I moisturized my face and I primed the t-zone with the MOM.

2.) I applied Smashbox concealer under my eyes to brighten the area. (I dont apply it anywhere else, but if you have spots you need to cover you can apply the product as you please. I also did not use foundation, so you can add that step).

3.) I applied the Mary Kay loose powder over my T-zone with Elf studo line total face brush.
4.) I applied Prestge clear mascara over my eyebrows, then I filled in the sparse areas in with Avon brow powder in brunette.

5.) I applied Wet &Wild matte bronzer as blush with MAC 182 Kabuki brush

Eyes:

(My camera sucks lol)

1.) Lined the bottom and top lashes with Burjois Regard Duo Chrome eyeliner in Bronze and smudged unto the lid , going a little above the crease.
2.) I applied Elf liquid eyeshadow on top of the smudged pencil and let it dry, I then applied MAC paint pot in Indianwood, and blended with my finger. I blended only a little over the crease.

3.) I lined my top lash line with Elf liquid eyeliner pen in Coffee. I applied the liner very thinly and close to the lash line, so that it looked more natural. I added more Burjois Duo chrome liner n bronze to my bottom lash to add intensity.

4.) I appled 2 coats of Avon Uplift mascara on top and bottom lashes.

Lips:

1.) I used MAC lip conditioner (I'm not big on lip gloss or lipsticks, but I do a lot of it lol).

ROAD TRIP: IN ORLANDO, FL

Hey guys.. It has been a long time. It just so happens that I am on a road trip to FLorida!!!! Yup... Mom decided that it was a great idea to take the car and drive all the way down here. We actually made it in record time. We drove for 14 hrs, and it usually takes 24 hrs to get to Florida (ALL thanks to Mom's speeding lol). I must admit that it is absolutley beautiful down here (I took the pivture below while i was on the road. I was always skeptical of coming down here since I am a CITY girl).

So, there is a lot to come in the days ahead. I am trying to figure out how to record a video so that I can finally post one on the whytheblush YouTube channel (If you haven't already, you should go chek it out. Michelle is amazing!!!!! love you). I also will have a FLorida haul and review when I get back to the city (ZAPZYT, LA COLORS, EQUATE, MAC MATTE CREME, ELIZABETH ARDEN, SMASHBOX...) .

Michelle has suggested that I do my Global Beauty segments as videos so that they can be interactive. I can't wait to do that.

After I get back from the spring tommorow, I will try to post my first look post (Fingers Crossed)...

Pay It Foward: Milk of Magnesia as Primer

OMGGGGG!!!! WHHHAAATTTT!!!!! You put stuff you are suppose to ingest for digestive purposes on your face????? YUP. The importance of paying it forward is just that: Things you never would have thought of become life and money savers. I came across this tip on YOUTUBE (The holy grail of holy grail worthy information). Since I am not afraid to try anything, I didnt hesitate to go and pick up a bottle of Phillip's Milk of magnesia.

So what is this thing suppose to do for my skin???

First of all, you guys must know the extent of the oiliness of my face. Michelle knows the following information is true. When my face is at its oilest i look as if I am sweating from running a marathon. I then jokingly take out 5 blotting sheets and stick them unto my face as if i'm wearing a mask. I then remove them and I look like i have only walked up 26 flights of stairs rather than have ran a marathon.

Now, the milk of magnesia is suppose to act as a mattifyer, primer, pore minimizer, redness reducer, and acne treatment.

I apply a thin layer of MOM with my elf foundation brush after the usual washing, toning, treating, and moisturizing. I apply to my t-zone and the huge pores on the side of my nose. I let it dry and rub off any chalkiness that may occur (The less you use the better it is). I then apply my makeup as usual.

So my thought on this product is that it absolutley works. I was amazed at how matte my face stayed from 11 am till 12am. It also has relieved the redness on my face and I even used it as an overnight acne spot treatment. This product also works great as a mask when applied in a thick layer. I say you must try this. (You can read more reviews on MOM on makeupalley.com) This may become my HG in the primers category (I usually use Monistat anti-chafing gel).

WARNING: THIS PRODUCT IS ONLY FOR THE REALLY OILY, FOR IT DRIES THE SKIN.

When purchasing (It cost $10 for the big bottle and about $4 for the smallest) remember to buy the original without sugar or flavoring. Generic brands can also work aswell as Phillip's.

MAC ATTACK: Fluidline in Blacktrack

I am not in no way a mac-aholic, but props have to be given where it is due. I purchased MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack about a month ago, and I must say I absolutley love this stuff. It is like Crack. For those of you who don't know, Fluidline is a gel liner that comes in a glass pot and can be applies with an eyeliner brush like Mac's 209 or an angled liner brush like Mac's 266. The phenomenal thing about this product is its versatility. The gel liner can be applied on the eyelid for a winged- cat eye look, as a primer for a smokey look, as a tight line liner, as a waterline liner, and even as a beauty mark maker. The staying power is incredible. There is no smudging, fast drying, and application is so quick and easy. This product definitely gets a 10 star rating.

Global Beauty: China Doll

Everything seems to be MADE IN CHINA, but what do we know about Chinese beauty secrets?


Like all other nationalities, the ideal chinese beauty has changed throughout the ages. The Chinese woman now has freedom to express herself; therefore, there is no standard to what a chinese woman should look like. To me, Chinese women seem to have an effortless, minimalist view of beauty. Their beauty comes from flawless skin and gorgeous shiny hair (Think Lucy Liu). Let's admit it not all of us are blessed with porcelean skin or naturally shiny hair, but there is always a product that can help:

For Flawless Skin:

Water (Free)- You can not have enough of this elixer of life. Infact, I will ask that all followers of this blog consume atleast 12 cups of water a day. Trust me, you do not want to be stuck in the hospital on a Sunday because you are dehydrated and have developed a kidney stone (The pain is like being stabbed again, again, and again).

St. Ives Aprioct Scrub ($3-$5)

Great skin starts with a great product. I use St. Ives about 4 times a week and whenever I think I need a scrub. The apricot granules are gentle enough to not hurt and rough enough to scrub away dull dead skin cells.

For Porcelean Skin:

Maybelline Pure Makeup Foundation ($4- $6)

When I first bought this foundation I did not like it, but now that I know the importance of hydrated skin this product is great. It workks best on well hydrated skin (Don't slack on the moisturizer or the water). This foundation also happens to be one of the most affordable. It is made of 50% water (YESSS WATTERRR), which does not clog pores. I apply this with a sponge on the areas I need it. It offers light coverage, but it is buildable. It is a matte finish.

For Shiny Hair:

Biosilk Silk Therapy (Varied prices $12-$30)

I love this stuff. The smell is enticing and it is multi-purpose. These silk drops can be applied to damp hair as a shine treatment, to dry hair as shine serum, and to hair as heat protectant before using heat. I religiouly use this everyday. A little goes a long way, so my 20 ounce bottle still has 6 months of use in it (Ibought the bottle in December and I still haven't gotten half done with it).

For long lashes:

Avon Uplift Mascara ($6-$8)

This is one of my HG (Holy Grail) Mascaras. The fibers offer length and even application. I love how this mascara can enhance a natural look, but can also be layered to intensify a sexy look.

Random Haul

HOLA CHICAS AND CHICOS!!!!

This is probably not a suprise to Michelle, but today I spent a little bit of money on some beauty products that I felt I needed (In my mind I need all beauty products lol).

Maybelline Mineral Power Bronzer in Sunset Bronze ($9)

I have wanted this since I saw the ad in LATINA Magazine August 2009. It features one of my favorite novela actresses Dana Garcia. As I do with all things, I decided I had to have this bronzer because I wanted a glow like hers. I havent tested it yet, but I will tommorow and for the next week on my trip to Florida (ROAD TRIPPP!!!!!).

Tea Tree Oil Stick ($2)

I needed some tea tree oil on the go. If this stuff really works then I must have it on me at every moment of my life.

Tea Tree Oil ($9)

I remember reading a review on the properties of 100% tea tree oil. Supposedly, this australian oil can clear acne, clear dark spot, cure dandruff, clear athletes's foot, etc. It's a do it all oil, and I can not wait to use it (I have this nasty cystic zit on my cheek...EWWWWW).

Nikka Lip stick in Ruby Red ($1)

(Ruby Red is the red on the right)

After falling in love with Revlon's Cherries in the Snow lipstick, but not the price tag, I decided I needed a truw red liostick. Thanks to the millions of Dollar stores and Beauty Supply stores in my neighborhood, it is very easy to get my hands on cheap but good cosmetics. This lipstick is really pigmented and the red suits all skin colors.

Nikka jumbo eye pencils in Glow and Ash ($1 each)

I have plenty of eyeliners but not enough jumbo pencils. I immediatly gravitated to this two colors since makeup looks poped into my head. Glow is a shimmery nude/white oencil. It is great for lining the water line and the inner corner to make eyes pop. It can also be used as a highlighter for the face or shimmery eyeshadow. The ash is a metalic grey that is great for s light smokey eye.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque ($5)

I have been wanting this for a while. I love how mint smells and was looking for a mask that could add the tingly feeling experience to my face routine. This mask claims to dry up pimples, clear blackheads, and shrink pores. If it doesn't deliver all of that, atleast you will be refreshed after a walk around the humid, hot city.

TopiClear lemon cream lightening cream with sun screen ($2)

My uncle used to use this in his youth to clear up the dark spots that acne left behind. His skin is comletley spotless to this day. After I saw my aunt hand him atube of this to him today, I asked him if it worked. He just showed me a picture to show how effective this can be. In fact the only reason why I went shopping today was because I was going to buy this product. I hope it works.

Global Beauty… The Brazilian Bombshell

Many things come out of Brazil—Samba, Capoeira, Brazil nut, Brazilian wax, the Bikini (ouch), Super Models… Yes, Super Models. It seems to be that beauty with world wide appeal is a constant export of the Brazilian trade. Names like Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen, Alessandra Ambrioso, Emmanuelle DePaula, Isabeli Fontana, Raica Oliveira, Ana Beatriz Barros, Ana Claudia Michels, and Fernanda Tavarez, to name a few, are sought after in the fashion world to be the faces of international products. We love to hate them, but there is something about their skin, their hair, their faces that make us secretly (or not secretly) yearn to be Brazilian for a day. Brazilian women are also very diverse, which provides an access to different beauty secrets that work for some and not for others. Hopefully, the following products will help us get a little bit closer to becoming a Bombshell because you do not have to be Brazilian to be one… YAYYYYY. : )

For Smooth, Shiny, Brazilian-like Skin

Vaseline Intensive Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil with Brazil Nut ($6-$8):

I have been using this product on and off for 6 months. It is sooo moisturizing! When applied to the skin, the skin gives off a nice glow without looking oily. The smell is very nutty and natural. I love it! It is best to apply onto damp skin right after showering or bathing. This product can be found in stores like CVS, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, etc…

OR

Johnson and Johnson Baby Oil with Lavender ($3- $5): The age old classic. This product is a daily go to for me. I reach for it more than I reach for the Vaseline oil. The Lavender smell is relaxing unlike the sometimes, too poignant original baby powder smell. I apply it right after the shower unto damp skin. The application is smoother and quicker than the Vaseline Intensive Care, which is a gel. The after effect is just as smooth and glowy as the gel. You can find this pretty much anywhere.

For Amazing, Nourished Brazilian-like Hair:

Brazilian Keratin Treatment ($150- $600): The Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment naturally straightens your hair. It produces spectacular results - the hair is shiny, sleek and healthy. For the time being, no big U.S. hair or beauty company is selling it. Only small firms are importing products from Brazil or creating their own formulations. The brands include Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Brazilian Hair Straightening and Brazilian Blowout. The Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment is ideal for those with tumbleweed hair. It is great for people who can’t do a salon blowout at home or get blowout every week. It eliminates frizz and unwanted curl while giving hair added texture and control. The treatment can be used on the majority of hair types, even chemically treated hair, color treated hair, relaxed hair and on highlighted hair, without causing damage. The treatment takes 1 ½ to 4 hours; the more damaged your hair is the longer the treatment lasts. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, it can cost between $150 and $600. Using a 450-degree iron, a solution made with active keratin is sealed onto the outer layer of the hair cuticle. It sticks to the cuticle’s naturally rough edges. I want to try this out badly. My hair is relaxed and colored, so it may be a little risky. Also, I have a lot of hair and it’s lengthy, which means it is more expensive since Keratin is sold by the ounce. Ask you hair stylist about the Keratin Treatment.

OR

Olive Oil ($1- $3)- Yes, plain oil olive oil will do the trick. It is not as drastic as the keratin, but the shine it gives is irresistible. I use olive oil as a deep hot oil treatment. I heat up a small amount of oil in a cup in the microwave. I apply it to damp unwashed hair. I leave it on for 30 minutes, then I rinse and shampoo. The results are incredible: Soft, shiny manageable hair.

For a Flawless, Bronzed Face:

Bronzer ($1- $28): Bronzer should be a staple in every make up kit. It provides a natural glow if applied correctly. I use different types of bronzers (Matte, Shimmer, Liquid, Powder) depending on the weather, the day, and the look. I usually apply with a fan brush, and I focus on the contours of my cheeks, the temples, and a little on the nose. Method of application varies per person, so just practice and see what works best for you.

For Sultry, Sexy Eyes:

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye pencil in Baked ($16)- Sultry eyes does not necessarily mean black eye liner. A bronze/gold liner, like Urban Decay’s, can add the perfect emphasis to the eyes without looking harsh. I apply the eyeliner to the water line and the inner eye corner, and then I add black mascara to the top and bottom lashes. It is very natural-looking, but sexy. You don’t necessarily have to go out and buy the urban decay liner (even though it’s smooth and creamy). Any gold/bronze eye pencil or eye kohl can be used. Even gold eye shadow can do the trick. Just line the bottom lash line with eye shadow and dab into the inner corner of the eye.

(Aside from the Brazilian Keratin, I have used all of the products I have mentioned.)

Initiation into the World of Blogging

Hey guys! I'm so excited about becoming an author on this great blog. Michelle and Rosanna are beauty enthusiasts, like myself, and that will just make blogging even more exciting and entertaining. Now, a little bit about me... I am nineteen years old. I am a student in NYU, which I really enjoy and love!!! I hope to go to law school. Ultimately, I want to become a Supreme Court judge, but there are many other things I want to do in life. For example, I want to write a novel and several other smaller books. Now, let us talk about how my affair with makeup and beauty products came about. As a young girl I always looked at how the women that surrounded me behaved. Fortunately, they all had a beauty regime, which I thought was intriguing. There was nothing more fascinating than sitting at my grandmother’s vanity to look at all the bottles and tubes (she is a licensed beautician). I started buying makeup slowly, but the biggest growth spurt has been within the last couple of months, since I have nothing else to do besides shop. I love how makeup is able to transform someone, providing confidence or a hint of allure. Makeup also helps enhance certain features while minimizing those that are not so desirable. I do not discriminate when it comes to beauty products. It all depends on what works best. But as much as I love makeup, I believe the most important part of a beauty routine is skin maintenance. You can expect many reviews on skin care products, skin care methods, and hauls from my part; I love offering my opinion, and I love shopping and testing out new products.
